"Mad as a March Hare"Paper Dolls at Hello Dollies

What a wonderful happy day at Hello Dollies - lots of fun! Paper doll Easter bunnies offered a gentle creative exercise and it was probably the quietest we all were as we coloured in with conentration and focus!  And what a varied and amazing show and tell ....
Bobbi's Boho  jewellery and mystic treasures, Wilma's birds,
and in the background, Jo's delightful  bunnies.
Bobbi's mixed media sculpture
Wendy's whimsical "wabbits".
Marg's champion rabbit which featured in the showcase of excellence at the recent Newcastle Show

with Alice and a pink fairy with that fashionable tulip shaped skirt.
Wilma's Bilby totem woman - eco dyed  wool and silk

Apologies to Jo for the blurry photo of  her precious rabbits, but Jo won our hearts with her bilby shaped gingerbread . Made from Granny McKinnon's recipe, the gingerbread was absolutely delicious with lemon flavoured icing and hand cut using our challenge shape of the month!
Wendy showed us her vintage/antique? collapsible  silk opera hat , with its original tissue paper wrapping and the original hat box. These were called opera hats because of the practice of folding them up and storing them under one's seat at the opera, first popular around 1840.

Jackie's beautiful beaded lariat
Lovely to see Fay drop in briefly to donate some of her previously treasured magazines to the group - and there's that ubiquitous pink hair again!
Happy Easter to all from Hello Dollies

Post script : It is with much sadness that just now I heard of the death of fantastic doll maker Peggy Wilson, a friend of Hello Dollies. When visiting with her doll maker friend, Marilyn Halcomb, Peggy graced Hello Dollies, and many of you have created beautiful dolls from Peggy's patterns, including Long Tall Sally which Peggy gifted to Hello Dollies. The world of cloth dolls has lost a great talent. Condolences to family and friends of Peggy Wilson.
